Senate Bill 22 - Educational Assistance for Veterans

The “Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2007” is a bill that would establish a program of educational assistance for Armed Forces members who have served after September 11, 2001. It is meant to update the current educational assistance program for veterans, which the sponsorers of the bill believe is outmoded and designed for peacetime service. Senate Bill 1409 - Enhance Education, Housing Assistance for Veterans

S.1409: The “21st Century GI Bill of Rights Act of 2007” is aimed at expanding educational, housing, and entrepreneurial opportunities for soldiers, veterans and their families. Among the benefits of the bill are funding for service members of eight college semesters of tuition, fees, books and board. Also, the bill would provide veterans with microloans for “entrepreneurial ventures” of up to $100,000 that have interest rates capped at 2.5% and that don’t require collateral. Senate Bill 723 - Enhancing the GI Bill

S.723: The “Montgomery GI Bill Enhancement Act of 2007” would eliminate the $1200 enrollment fee for active duty members of the military that is a condition of the current Montgomery GI Bill. The bill was re-introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in March 2007. Sen.
