Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AssetBuilding.org handles personal data when you visit the website or contact the publication. The site currently has no contact form, newsletter, user accounts, public comments, advertising, affiliate tracking, social feeds or embedded video.

Google Analytics is disabled until a consent mechanism is implemented. If the site’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before or when the relevant processing begins.

What personal data do we process?

AssetBuilding.org processes only the limited information needed to operate the website and respond to messages. The exact information depends on how you use the site.

  • Technical request data such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, date and time, where processed by the website or hosting infrastructure for delivery, security and fault diagnosis.
  • Your email address, name and any other information you voluntarily include when emailing us.
  • Records needed to assess a correction, copyright, privacy or legal request.

Please do not include unnecessary sensitive information in an email.

Why do we process personal data?

Technical data may be processed to deliver the website, protect it against misuse, diagnose faults and maintain its availability. This processing is based on the legitimate interests of operating and securing the publication.

Information sent by email is used to understand and answer the request, keep an appropriate record where necessary and establish, exercise or defend legal claims if required. Depending on the message, the basis may be our legitimate interest in responding, steps requested before entering an agreement or compliance with a legal obligation.

We do not use contact details for a newsletter or unrelated marketing. We do not use personal data for automated decisions or profiling.

How do analytics and cookies work?

Google Analytics is not active. It will remain disabled until visitors can make a valid analytics-consent choice before Analytics loads.

If Google Analytics is activated later, this section will be updated to explain the measurement cookies and data involved, their duration, Google’s role, any international data transfers and how consent can be withdrawn. Analytics will use consent as its legal basis. Advertising features will remain disabled unless they are separately introduced and disclosed.

The site may use strictly necessary technical storage or cookies when required for security, network management or a service requested by the visitor. Consent is not required where the legal necessity exemption applies. Their purpose must still be explained accurately.

How long do we retain personal data?

Personal data is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected. We use the purpose and any legal record-keeping requirement to determine the period rather than retaining correspondence indefinitely.

Email enquiries are kept while the request is being handled and for any reasonable follow-up period. They may be kept longer when needed for legal obligations, dispute records, copyright permissions or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Technical security data follows the limited retention applied by the relevant hosting or security service.

When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised where reasonably possible.

Who may receive or process the data?

Personal data may be processed by service providers that support website hosting, security, email and technical administration. They receive only the information needed to provide their service and are subject to applicable contractual and legal safeguards.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, a competent authority or a legal process, or when necessary to protect legal rights. We do not sell personal data.

If a service involves processing outside the European Economic Area, the applicable transfer mechanism and safeguards will be assessed and described where required.

What rights do you have?

Depending on the processing and legal basis, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, restrict its use, object to processing or receive portable data. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Send requests to contact@assetbuilding.org. We may ask for limited additional information when reasonably necessary to confirm your identity and protect another person’s data.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority or another competent supervisory authority. Contacting us first may allow the issue to be resolved more quickly, but it is not a condition for making a complaint. General publisher details are available on the Contact page. The Terms of Use explain the rules governing access to the website.
